Start a Personal Blog to Experience Life to the Fullest

Background

Honestly, this story starts with $$$ which is unfortunate but true. And I want to start this blog renewal with honesty.

About a year ago I created blvd eye as a HONY-inspired blog to interview different creative trailblazers. Since I had enjoyed blogging so much in this style through my then-blog, Through my Fashion Lens, in highschool, I told myself to give it another go my junior year of college.

Through my Fashion Lens - HONY inspired fashion blog that I had in highschool and tbh killed it (in a good way) at the time

And I enjoyed it for the first few months - meeting new people, creating fun visual collages and showcasing talented individuals. There were even highlights too, like when I interviewed sundial, one of my favorite duos to listen to on Spotify.

But what should've been my time for fun started to feel like extra work.

And I didn't need that.

Beginning

More interesting than the background is the start of blvd eye 2.0. As I was interning in NYC over summer 2018, I casually scrolled through my banking app and suddenly saw "$168 transaction." I like to shop for clothes often but trust me, I still keep track of my spending... so I was pretty confused where the charge came from.

And of course, it says "Wix." Immediately I muttered "Damn it" under my breath because I knew exactly what the charge was for. I hadn't cancelled blvd eye's Wix subscription from a few months before when I stopped actively posting.

But rather than dispute the charge, I saw it as life giving me the opportunity to refresh my dusty project and turn it into something I was passionate about again.

Since this is the 1st post under the revamp, let's cross our fingers and hope that $168 goes a long, meaningful way.

Goal

I knew I had to revive my blog, but I didn't just want to continue posting the same kind of content.

Starting a new blog kind of feels like going on vacation to some new, exciting destination. You Google. You read a lot of random advice links. You then kind of question what was valuable from everything that was suggested. You then realize things that you wanted to do from the beginning anyway.

And then you do it. And your aim is to love the experience as much as you hoped.

With blvd eye 2.0, I want to do just that - find the love in blogging again. But more than simply loving the experience, I thought "why don't I love experiences too?"

If I had to name one of my most impossible-to-get-rid-of qualities, it'd be my uncomfortableness with boredom. Chilling is one thing, boredom is another. So I've always been a self-labeled "experiential person" and with living in a vibrant place like NYC for the summer, I've pushed myself to experience something new every single day. But there hasn't been a consistent way for me to document these unique explorations or a way for me to hold myself accountable.

And no surprise, public documentation via blogging is a good way to solve those issues.

So here is where I vow to you, to blvd eye, to my... future dog (see potential below), that I will blog about "attempting life's unique paths through experiencing firsts."

what my future dog could look like

**cannot confirm nor deny if some of these firsts are dorky and/or questionable

We're all young on the inside and the world is literally in front of us no matter what, so we should take the opportunity to live life to the fullest. And I'll show you that being full isn't only good post-feast.

Progress

Well as you can see, new post #1 = live!

Future monumental progress will be updated here, but for now I've already started working on a consistent HIIT workout and cooking up firsts from my past that I've wanted to showcase. They aren't cooking... I'll be honest but hey, just another reason to stick around to see when I do get around to that first.
