Was it scary starting this musical group? Did it take you a long time to go ahead with it?
This entire project spurred from an independent study called "Music Industry." So we really started making music as an educational experience. Once the class was over, it felt pretty natural to continue making music after Eleven was born. We came up with the idea for Eleven during a Fall break trip we took to Baltimore and created the group in January--the rest is history!
Worst song that’s mainstream?
Blue: "Look What You Made Me Do" by Taylor Swift
Karis: "Slow Hands" by Niall Horan
Have you had a moment where you’ve felt “this can actually work” — if so when?
We won an emerging artist competition for 'Step Forward' a few months ago. That was the first time our music was judged and actually compared to other artist's songs. It was refreshing to see people we don't know actually like our music too!
Is it hard working on a project with your significant other?
Our relationship always contained music. We go to concerts together, share songs and talk about music all the time. Being a songwriting duo is really just an extension of things we already do as a couple. It's no more difficult working on this project than it is for us to make weekend plans or decide where we want to get dinner. It's a really wonderful and special connection that we have through music.
